Why Reconnect

What was missing before us?

Quitting alone rarely works. We know — we've all tried. Social media is designed to be addictive, and isolation only makes it harder.

The problem isn't willpower. The problem is facing an industry built to exploit your attention — alone. Without a community to back you up, the odds are stacked against you.

Reconnect changes the equation. We're a group of Stanford students who decided we had enough — and discovered that doing it together makes all the difference.

What we believe

Three tenets that
guide everything.

01

Initiative

Almost half of 18–24 year olds wish social media never existed, yet the average spends 3–6 hours a day on it. Initiative means having the courage to be one of the first to act.

02

Compassion

We believe quitting should be an individual decision. Compassion means meeting people where they are — no judgement, no holier-than-thou attitude.

03

Commitment

No 'detoxes' or 'resets.' We're in it for the long haul. Commitment means holding ourselves and each other accountable.

Ready to reconnect?

Whether you've already quit, you're thinking about it, or you just want to learn more — there's a place for you here.
