Reconnect Stanford emerged from a simple question: How can we do the most good for our generation?
We live in a time where people feel more detached from one another and from what truly matters than ever before. Although many factors contribute to this troubling reality, we count ourselves among those who see social media and our collective dependence on it as the chief cause.
Many look back wistfully to a time before these apps existed, or wish that they had never been created at all. It seems that only then could we imagine being truly free from their grip. And yet, having the resolve to turn that resentment into action is easier said than done.
Beginning with a list of names who dared to defy the myth that having social media is a social necessity, today Reconnect Stanford exists to help students reclaim their attention, time, and relationships by building a community around social media sobriety — because facing any addiction is easier when you don't face it alone.
